The Polish National Union of America was founded in 1908 as a Fraternal Benefit Society dedicated to
the material and spiritual security of Polish immigrants. Bishop Francis Hodur, organizer of the
Polish National Catholic Church, founded Spojnia after recognizing the need to provide financial
assistance to others with his same religious beliefs.
Whether a parish needs financial support for improvements or a mortgage to build a new rectory, the Polish National Union of America has always been there to provide financial support whenever possible. Since its inception in 1908, the Polish National Union of America has supported Polish National Catholic Church parishes with loans and financial assistance totaling millions of dollars. Annually, the Polish National Union of America supports the Polish National Catholic Church seminary to assist young men in their quest for the priesthood. Also, the Polish National Union of America actively supports the Polish National Catholic Church Mission Fund and the many Christian endeavors initiated through this fund. |

The Polish National Union of America also contributes funds toward the support of youth. This includes
participation in activities such as the Youth Convocation, the Kurs Encampment, and
the Labor Day Zlot (a track and field meet). The Polish National Union of America also provides
annual support to the Education and Youth Commission, which provides educational stipends for
students who are attending college or continuing-education programs. |

One of the most tangible examples of the Polish National Union of America's commitment to the Polish
National Catholic Church was the construction of the magnificent Polish National Union of
America/Polish National Catholic Church office complex. This complex not only houses the Polish
National Union of America's administrative offices, but also provides the Polish National Catholic
Church with affordable space for its National Church Center, its offices and a chapel for the Prime
Bishop and Polish National Catholic Church staff.
On the fourth Sunday of September, the Polish National Union of America and the Polish National Catholic Church jointly celebrate Spojnia Sunday. Spojnia Sunday is a unique feast day in the calendar of the Church, a day on which all Polish National Catholic Church members can reflect upon the spiritual and material contribution that the Polish National Union of America provides to the members of the Church. As another tangible show of our support for the Church, in 1997 the Polish National Union of America presented a number of Processional Crosses to the Polish National Catholic Church. |
